Tim Kubart’s Space Cadets, ChappPac, Sat, 11/3: 1pm: Awarded a Grammy for Best Children’s Album, Tim Kubart is the host of the popular preschool program Sunny Side Up, on NBC Universal’s Sprout Channel. He is also known as the “Tambourine Guy” from the international touring group Postmodern Jukebox. Tim Kubart & The Space Cadets deliver a family friendly dance party for all ages. Fall Forest Weekend, New York Botanical Garden, Sat-Sun, 11/3-4 & 10-11: 11am-4pm: NYBG offers live raptor demonstrations, Shakespearean performance and guided tours of the Thain Family forest, the largest remaining tract of old-growth forest in New York City, during prime foliage season. You can even see the Forest from a different perspective with a scenic canoe trip down the Bronx River and spot birds that call this woodland home. Check back for updates. Johnny Peers & The Muttville Comix, Ridgefield Playhouse, Sun, 11/4: 1pm: Johnny Peers’ Comedy Adventure Dog Show, features Daphne, the world’s only skateboarding Basset Hound; Squeaky, the ladder climbing Fox Terrier; Mr. Pepe, who only responds to commands in Spanish; and Sir Winston, the Pointer mix who only answers to “Sir.” The show stars mostly dogs rescued from shelters. Local! Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund Spelling Bee, Horace Greeley High School, Mon, 11/5: 7pm: This event is run by the students of S.H.A.R.E. (Students Have a Responsibility Everywhere), with all money raised going to support the Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund. Disney on Ice: Mickey’s Search Party, Barclay’s Center, Wed-Sun, 11/7-11: check times: A brand-new adventure filled with world-class skating, high-flying acrobatics, and unexpected stunts! Featuring Captain Hook and Tinker Bell, Coco in Miguel’s Disney On Ice, Moana, Belle and the enchanted chandelier comes to life, Elsa in the icy world of Frozen. WTD Fave Rave: New York Botanical Garden’s Train Show: Sat, 11/17-Mon, 1/21/2019: NYBG’s Holiday Train Show in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory features more than a dozen large scale model train sets (some super-sized) zipping across a quarter mile of track and a landscape of 140 scaled replicas of iconic New York City buildings made of bark, twigs, fruit, seeds and pine cones. Including, the original Penn Station and Yankee Stadium, Radio City Music Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the Brooklyn Bridge. An absolute must do event! (2900 Southern Blvd. Bronx; www.nybg.org)

Chappaqua Craft & Gift Fair, Bell Middle School – Sat, 11/17: 10am-4pm: 33rd annual craft fair featuring over 85 vendors presenting handcrafted jewelry, designer clothing, handbags and accessories, original artwork, tableware, furniture, bath & beauty products, children’s gifts, floral designs, gourmet foods and more. Circa: Carnival of the Animals, Performing Arts Center, Sun, 11/18: 3pm: The Circa Carnival, one of the world’s leading performance companies, takes you on a whimsical circus escapade inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ delightful salute to feathers, fur, and fins. Circa’s acrobats bring this classical music suite to life with juggling “zebras”, somersaulting “kangaroos” and “elephants” with street-cred and rhythm for a whole new generation of circus, music, and animal lovers. UBS Parade Spectacular, Downtown Stamford, Sun, 11/18: 12pm: Skip the Macy’s Day Parade and stay local with one of the largest helium balloon parades in the country. When we were there we saw the Pink Panther, Popeye, Underdog (our fave), Nemo, Mighty Mouse, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Miss Piggy, Spiderman and Kermit the Frog. Plus marching bands, floats and street food. Local! Ice Skating at The Harvey School – Fri, 11/23 & Thurs, 12/27: 12:45-2:45pm: In cooperation with The Harvey School, Jim Whiting and his staff at Bedford Recreation offers two hours of public skating for all ages at The Harvey School ice rink on the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Rainbow Fish, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Performing Arts Center, Sun, 12/2: 3pm: The acclaimed Mermaid Theatre, that has earned international acclaim for its unique interpretation of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, presents this original stage adaptation of Marcus Pfister’s award-winning book The Rainbow Fish.
