Where To Learn How To Swim: These six aquatics programs are the area leaders in teaching kids how to swim and training lifeguards too!
Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, Mt. Kisco: The Dennis Munson Aquatics Achool at the Boys and Girls Cluf of Northern Westchester has taught over 48,000 local children how to swim. They offer four levels of swim instruction plus two more for children interested in competitive swimming. Their Marlins competitive swim team have been Boys & Girls club National Champions every year since 2000. The club also offers American Red Cross lifeguard training and adult lap swim time. Club Fit Aquatics Center, Briarcliff Manor: The Briarcliff Club Fit has two large pools for swim lessons and group aquatic classes. In addition to the standard six level swim training programs, they offer private and semi-private lessons, parent/infant swim lessons, adaptive swim lessons for special needs groups, adult group lessons, adult swim for fitness classes and tri-athlete swim training. Greenwich Family YMCA, Greenwich, CT: The Greenwich Y offers seven levels fo swim training classes beginning with parent/infant classes and continuing through competitive swim training where swimmers are able to master four swim strokes. They also offer adaptive swim lessons for special needs populations, a noodle polo program, American Red Cross Lifeguard training, competitive swim and water polo teams and pool parties. (50 E. Pace University Aquatics, Pleasantville: Katherine Palladino at Pace University Aquatics typically has eight lanes of swim classes going on weekend mornings and some after school classes as well. The Pace pool is a popular one for parents who can view swim lessons from mezzanine seating overlooking the pool in the lobby. The pool also features a lovely windowed wall. Purchase College SUNY Aquatic Program, Purchase: The Purchase College Aquatics Instructional Program runs year round and offers children’s group lessons, adult lessons, specialty programs and a family recreational swim. All lessons are taught according to American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim guidelines by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and are held in our the school’s six-lane pool and diving well, heated for swim lesson comfort. Saw Mill Club East, Mt. Kisco: The Saw Mill Club offers swim programs from Water Babies to adults, Masters/Tri-athlon training and American Red Cross Lifeguard training. Their acclaimed Storm Aquatics swim team competes year round.
